Domino’s Australia has gone to extreme lengths to create a ‘low-carb’ watermelon pizza – complete with melted cheese and pepperoni.
The fast food chain teased its diners after sharing a TikTok video showing an employee creating the bizarre pizza combinations, with many declaring the controversial topping as ‘worst than pineapples’.
The video shows the worker spreading a spoonful of tomato paste over a thick slice of watermelon after replacing the traditional pizza dough.
He then topped the fruity based with grated cheese and pepperoni. The sweet and savoury concoction was baked in the oven until cheese was melted.

‘This is equally confronting to us but it does look pretty good out of the oven,’ the team from Domino’s said in the video.
‘We think it might be an acquired tasted.’
The pizza chain said they got the idea from UK home cook Oliver Paterson after his TikTok video of his pizza on a watermelon was viewed more than 3.4 million times.
‘Y’all keep asking us for a low carb crust option. When we saw him make a pizza on a watermelon, we had to give it a go. Would you try it?’ Domino’s said.
After creating the pizza, Domino’s confirmed: ‘In case you didn’t make it to the end, we also weren’t too into it.’

The video has since been viewed more than 380,000 times, with many claiming the watermelon pizza was a ‘war crime’.
‘This looks incredibly vile,’ one woman wrote, while another said: ‘What the f*** I am Italian, and this is an insult for us.’
And one woman added: ‘This should be illegal,’ while another suggested: ‘Watermelon cannot be anything other than cold.’
Meanwhile many said the watermelon was ‘worst’ than ‘pineapples on pizza’.
‘This hurts me more than seeing pineapples on pizza,’ one wrote
However, one man disagreed, saying: ‘Watermelon still doesn’t sound as bad as pineapple on pizza,’ adding a vomiting emoji.
